The story has begun with the first sight love between Pascale and Enzo Amaddeo, when they caught each other’s eyes as teenagers at the Academy des Beaux-Arts. She was from three generations of artists including a grandfather who was friends with Magritte. He had grown up in the heart of a large Italian anti-conformist family.
This fusion of two universes, of two passionate photographers took place outside a town hall in the mid 1970s.
Together they decided to design costume jewellery. They moved into town, decorated the shop and immediately started working on their distinct taste for imaginative jewellery. On April 14th 1980 the first Néréides boutique in Nice opened and on that day success walked through their door: the history of this brand has begun!
In Greek mythology, the Néréides were the sea nymph daughters of Nereus, the Old Man of the Sea. It was a premonitory name chosen by Pascale’s grandfather when they created the logo.
The wild and fanciful universe of Les Néréides has always found it’s inspiration in travelling. Collectors and passionate jewellery amateurs, the two designers have gazed admiringly at stands across the world. From the ephemeral markets of India, the garage sales in New York and the vendors at Waterloo, Pascale and Enzo brought back treasures from every one of their journeys.
With the Amaddeos the number 18 is quite a story. The 18 is everywhere and always has been, for those who know how to read destiny’s signs. Pascale was born on December 18th at 18.18 and got married aged 18. “Pascale Enzo Amaddeo” has 18 letters.
And none of the clan will ever be able to forget this winning number as they all have an 18 tattooed on their wrist!
The style of this amazing brand is a real incarnation of French refinement with a keen eye for detail. The pure lines, harmonious colours, choice of materials are the fruits of meticulous work.

Néreides and N2 universe has been extended with the creation of their first Parisian concept store, opened on February 12th 2009, this unique space in the heart of the Marais.
