CELEBRITY HOTEL: THE ADOLPHUS - DALLAS

Alloggiare in questo hotel mi ha fatto sentire come in una puntata di Mad Man…un po’ per l’atmosfera che si respira un po’ perché mi è sembrato di tornare indietro di qualche decennio.

Aperto nel 1912 The Adolphus è un hotel di lusso nel centro di Dallas, un superbo capolavoro barocco che rievoca gli splendori dell’Età dell’Oro.

Nel lusso delle 422 camere disposte su 23 piani avrai la sensazione di essere, più che un turista, un nobile di ritorno al suo maniero, potrai respirare l’odore delle celebrities che vi hanno alloggiato in passato: da Queen Elizabeth II ai moderni U2, Oscar de la Renta, Donald Trump, e Babe Ruth.

Inutile dire che in questo magnifico hotel era solito alloggiare anche J.F.Kennedy.

Se capitate a Dallas... da provare assolutamente!

Staying in this beautiful hotel is like taking part of Med Man series… I do not know why but probably for the atmosphere that I could breathe.

Opened its doors in 1912, this baroque masterpiece stands today as the Grande Dame of downtown Dallas hotels.

You will find 422 luxury rooms disposed in 23 floors. Amid regal Flemish tapestries and an ornately carved Victorian Steinway once owned by the Guggenheims Family, you can sense the aura of the famous guests who’ve preceded you – from Queen Elizabeth II to U2, Oscar de la Renta, Donald Trump, and Babe Ruth.

You have to tray this piece of Dallas history!!!

PLACE TO GO: ROSE BOWL FLEA MARKET PASADENA

Che LA sia la mia città preferita è un dato di fatto.

Che sia piena di fantastici posti da scoprire è un altro.

A pochi km dalle colline di Los Angeles ogni seconda domenica del mese, da quasi 40 anni, potrete farvi un giro per il Flea Market più figo della west coast (e forse anche della East).

E’  proprio qui a Pasadena,  all’interno del famoso Rose Bowl Stadium, dove i più grandi fashion designers vengono x fare ricerca; potrete trovare davvero di tutto, dall’abbigliamento, all’arredamento all’oggettistica più varia e strana; camminerete tra stand che espongono vecchi borsoni LV, Chanel, videogames originali di PacMan, pezzi vintage, poster, quadri e opere antiche.

Più di 2500 venditori si ritrovano in questo Stadio sotto al sole per offrire la loro “mercanzia” e vi assicuro che non c’è mercato vintage più affascinante e completo di questo!

E quando siete stanchi potrete rilassarvi tra gli stand e rimpinzarvi di hot-dog e Coca Cola… very american style!

Quindi… segnatevi questo appuntamento fisso: ogni 2 domenica del mese – Rose Bowl stadium – Rose Bowl Flea Market.

It is a matter of fact that Los Angeles in my favourite city and it is full of AMAZING places to discover.

Each month, for over 40 years, the Pasadena Rose Bowl Stadium has been the gathering place of rare and unusual merchandise, including clothing, home furnishings, home decorating, paintings, posters, vintage clothing, arts and crafts, as well as the very popular antiques and collectibles.

All the super famous fashion designers come here to look for trends and inspiration.

Over 2500 vendors and approximately 15-20,000 buyers passing through the turnstiles that indeed make this California’s largest and cool  flea market!

You can relax in the shade or under the sun in the food court while enjoying your favorite American hot-dog .

So take note of this beautiful place: Come on out and enjoy some of the old fashioned fun at the Rose Bowl Flea Market held the 2nd Sunday of every month, from 9am-3pm at the World Famous Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, California.

PLACE TO GO: LA FERRAMENTA - BOLOGNA

Se capitate a Bologna non potete e sottolineo NON, scordarvi di visitare La Ferramenta.

Inaugurata il 2 marzo, nel pieno centro di Bologna all'interno di un ex convento prima e di un ex ferramenta poi (che festeggerà proprio nel 2012 il centenario dalla creazione del primo esercizio commerciale), questo spazio, completamente ristrutturato, nasce dalla fusione di 2 realtà bolognesi doc che non potevano certo sbagliare -  Giulietti e Guerra (colosso dell’ottica italiana) e Back Door.

Uno spazio  stupendo, diverso da qualsiasi negozio abbiate mai visto o immaginato; uno store che ospita vari e ricercati marchi internazionali (per citarvene qualcuno: Pendleton, Wood Wood, Be Postive, Dr. martens, Jeffrey Campbell, Scotch and soda, Smiths, Vanishing elephant, Our legacy. Per gli accessori/occhiali: Persol, Mykita, Rayban, Graz, Dita, Oliver Peoples, Theo Bob Sdrunk) e che affitta al suo interno uno spazio dedicato a BLACK SHEEP, leader nel settore per accessoristica e customizzazione mac, iphone, ipad e dock system.

Ciò che realmente differenzia questo spazio è sicuramente il modo in cui è stato concepito, senza la collaborazione o l'appoggio di architetti famosi ma affidandosi all’azienda d'arredo di fiducia - la Top assistance di Modena -  ed il risultato è qualcosa di completamente unico, sorprendente, un negozio in cui vale la pena entrare anche solo per scendere quella scala a chiocciola che porta in una sorta di spazio sotterraneo.

Mi raccomando, se passate di lì non scordatevi di buttare un occhio alle opere del pittore di fama internazionale Concetto  Pozzati che ha donato a questo posto un quadro ed una scultura (lavorata e intagliata direttamente su uno dei cassetti  dello store) facenti parte del ciclo A CASA MIA.

Sono Jacopo Pozzati, Marco Evangelisti e Paolo Bertacchi - componenti del gruppo Back Door –  che, come volevasi dimostrare, hanno fatto centro anche questa volta, creando un concept d'eccezione inaugurato ovviamente con un party in grande stile.

If you are in Bologna you can not, and I say NOT, forget to visit La Ferramenta.

This Store opened March 2nd, inside a centenarian location in the center of Bologna which was formerly a convent and then became a ferramenta. After the closure 4 years ago this  ferramenta has been completely renovated by 2 groups of people, Giulietti e Guerra and Back Door.

Now you will find an amazing Store featuring international and unconventional brands (like Pendleton, Wood Wood, Be Postive, Dr. martens, Jeffrey Campbell, Scotch and soda, Smiths, Vanishing elephant, Our legacy. For the Accessories: Persol, Mykita, Rayban, Graz, Dita, Oliver Peoples, Theo Bob Sdrunk) as well as the BLACK SHEEP corner (top seller for mac, iphone, ipad accessories and dock system).

The real peculiarity of this space is the way it is created, without any kind of collaboration with famous architects but only with the support of their trusted Interior company - Top Assistance from Modena - and the result is something unique, awesome and completely different.

Also do not forget to take a look at the 2 masterpieces by the famous artist Concetto Pozzati - one painting and one sculpture realized cutting directly one drawer of the store - gifted to this place.

Jacopo Pozzati, Marco Evangelisti e Paolo Bertacchi – components of the Back Door group –  built a strong concept that was launched with a stylish and huge party.

If you are bored by the usual Stores and you are looking for something new, different, cool and international, this is the place to go!!!

COS NEW OPENING IN MILAN!

Se anche voi siete amanti dell’altra super famosa catena nord-europea (dopo H&M) – sto parlando di COS (Collection of Styles) -  questa notizia vi rallegrerà la giornata!

Finalmente anche a Milano aprirà il tanto atteso flagship store del brand (dopo Londra, Paris, Bruxelles, Copenaghen e Monaco)!

La location sarà Corso Venezia- ex spazio Armani Collezioni- a davvero pochi metri da Corso Vittorio Emanuele.

Finalmente potrete dire basta allo shopping online (anche se la possibilità di acquistare COS online con spedizione in Italia è piuttosto recente) e provarvi fisicamente tutti i capi della collezione.

Per chi non lo conoscesse, si tratta in un marchio dal gusto più minimal e sobrio, con palette di colori abbastanza circoscritte e dalla qualità maggiore (quindi anche prezzi più alti) ma che ben si adatta al portafoglio di tutte noi!

Anche COS fa capo al gruppo H&M e l’opening è prevista per metà Maggio..o almeno così si vocifera…

If you also love so much the famous North-European fashion chain (not H&M)- I am talking about COS (Collection of Styles) – this news will make you very happy!!

Finally also in Milan (after London, Paris, Bruxelles, Copenaghen and Munich) , the first Italian flagship Store will be opened.

The location will be Corso Venezia – ex Armani Collection space – very close to Corso Vittorio Emanuele.

It’s time to say STOP to the online shopping (even the possibility to buy and ship in Italy was quite recent) and  physically try all the collection!

If you do not know, COS is a more minimal , urban and sober brand (compared to his brother H&M), with a well-defined color palette and good quality in terms of manufacture (this means higher price but always affordable!).

Even COS is part of H&M group and the Milan opening is expected for mid of May... that's a rumour around that..

PLACE TO BE: CHICAGO

La città “ventosa” è sicuramente una delle mete che preferisco negli USA. (anche se il mio cuore è per L.A.!)

Dopo averci trascorso una settimana quest’estate – per il LOLLAPALOOZA festival- eccomi di nuovo qui ma questa volta per lavoro.

Chicago è una città stupenda, affacciata sulle rive del lago Michigan ed immersa nell'arte.

The windy City is one of my favourite place to go in the USA (even if my heart belongs to L.A.!).

After spending one week this summer - for the LOLLAPALOOZA festival- here I am again, for work!!

Chicago is an amazing place, facing the Michigan lake and full of art.

JAPONAIS- uno straordinario posto dove gustare la miglior cucina  giapponese rivisitata in chiave Contemporanea, in un ambiente elegante e metropolitano.

LE COLONIAL- non sembra di entrare in un locale, ma in una casa coloniale francese dove viene servita la miglior cucina French-Vietnamese.

Ralph Lauren Restaurant- in perfect WASP style, you will taste a delicious crabe cake, soup or classic Caesar Salad.
JAPANOIS- an extraordinary concept offering the best of Contemporary Japanese Cuisine in an elegant and metropolitan atmosphere.
LE COLONIAL- it seems to enter a French Colonial house where you can taste the best French Vietnamese cuisine.

LOLLAPALOOZA

Fondato nel 1991-lo scorso Agosto il festival ha festeggiato i 20 anni con un Line Up d’eccezione (Eminem, Coldplay, BloodyBeetroots, The Kills, Black Lips, Foo Fighters, White Lies…)- questo festival annuale è il secondo più grande e importante -dopo il Coachella- degli USA . Potrete trovare performance dei più svariati generi musicali (alternative rock, heavy metal, punk rock, hip hop, dance..)

E' stata una vera fortuna essere presente lo scorso Agosto!!

Founded in 1991 - last year there was the 20th Anniversary with an exceptional Line-up ( Eminem, Coldplay,Bloody Beetroots, The Kills, Black Lips, Foo Fighters, White Lies..)- this festival is the second - after Coachella- in the USA. You can find any kind of musical performances (alternative rock, heavy metal, punk rock, hip hop, dance... )

Perchè ho deciso di aprire un blog? L'ennesimo sito per condividere moda ed outfit quotidiani?
non proprio...Questo blog nasce sì per x parlare di moda, di outfit e di me ovviamente, ma non solo!
