SRI LANKA DAY.5-6-7

After relaxing and visiting tea factory we have left for Kandy, the second biggest city after the capital Colombo where we have seen the amazing Esala Perahera (the festival of the tooth), the huge Buddist festival with elegant costumes happening in July or August. It's consisting of dances, nicely decorated elephants, fire-dances and various cultural exhibitions. 
The day after we have visited the Temple of the Tooth and after we have left for Polonnaruwa to see the amazing ancient city.
During the trip we have also visited a real Batik factory!
Our hotel here is located in front of the lake and the view is really amazing.

Dopo la nostra visita alle piantagioni di te, ci siamo diretti a Kandy - la seconda città più grande dopo la capitale Colombo - dove abbiamo assistito al festival Buddista noto con il nome di Esala Perahera dove elefanti agghindati a festa, ballerini di ogni genere, mangiatori di fuoco si sono esibiti per più di 4 ore ininterrottamente in un percorso di circa 5 km.
A Kandy non perdetevi il Tempio del Dente ed i numerosi Templi Hindu che troverete lungo il tragitto che collega le due città.
Da qui ci siamo poi spostati alla volta di Polonnaruwa, l'antica città capitale del secondo regno dello Sri Lanka dove potrete visitare le rovine all'interno del sito archeologico patrimonio dell'UNESCO. (durante il viaggio ci siamo anche fermati a visitare una fabbrica di batik)
Il nostro hotel affacciava direttamente sul lago e come vedrete dalle foto la vista era spettacolare!

SRI LANKA DAY.3 and DAY.4

After spending 2 days in Colombo we have left for Nuwara Eliya -  famous for tea plantation - where we have visited a huge tea factory. We have decided to stay in a wild resort in Haputale really in the middle of the jungle!

Dopo i primi giorni trascorsi nella capitale Colombo, ci siamo diretti a Nuwara Eliya la cittadina famosa per le piantagioni di te (tra cui Lipton!) che abbiamo avuto modo di visitare. La notte abbiamo dormito ad Haputale in un resort sperduto nella jungla!!!

SRI LANKA DAY.1 and DAY.2

We have spent these days in Colombo and - despite people or guide said - there are some interesting places to visit like the Gangaramaya Temple, the Fort, the National Museum and the Cinnamon Garden area. Enjoy my pics!!!

Abbiamo trascorso i primi 2 giorni nella capitale Colombo. A dispetto di quello che mi avevano detto e che avevo letto nelle guide, questa città riserva luoghi interessanti da visitare come il Gangaramaya Temple (adoro i Templi!!!), il Forte, il museo nazionale ed il curatissimo quartiere dal nome Cinnamon Garden. Eccovi un po' di foto !
